“It was July 1, 1974. They played with Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer. I had just bought my first Nikon with $$ from my 19th birthday in Jan that year, so I was just starting to take concert shots – they weren't that great at the time. I just remember Tommy being such a nice person.

I used to work in a building that was part of a Hyatt. Bands that played the Civic Arena across th street often stayed there. It was easy enough to catch them going in and out of sound checks or shows. I also had people working in the lobby that would call & tip me off if a band was coming in...

I was young and just went up to bands I liked with my camera & asked for passes so I could take shots at the show. Most often they would give them to me. I used to carry around some of the shots I took & show people. If I had shots of them from a show before, I would print them out & give them to them the next time around... (more to follow from this conversation...)
